CLAREMONT CHIDREN'S SCHOOL

MISSION STATEMENT

The long-range goals of Claremont Children's School are the positive growth of the whole child; the development of abilities, interests, attitudes and values that will continue to evolve over a lifetime; and the preparation of children for the transition to kindergarten. Our daily activities support these goals by providing a stimulating learning environment that will encourage cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth.

We believe that the following principles define Claremont's philosophy:
  • A good preschool provides a warm and secure environment for children, parents and staff.
  • The whole child develops best in a non-competitive atmosphere of caring, respect and mutuality.
  • Optimum development occurs when children are actively engaged in experimenting and exploring in a challenging and stimulating educational and social environment.
  • Children develop the skills needed for future academic success in an enriched learning environment.
  • Play is an important method to help children understand and come to terms with the world.
  • Children profit from activities directed by adults as well as benefiting from time for privacy and quiet.
Our goal is to provide an atmosphere that:
  • Creates a sense of community
  • Encourages participation
  • Is organized so that children can function independently and confidently with ease and comfort
  • Offers room for individual and group activities.

Claremont Children's School is a member of the Association of Teachers of Independent Schools, the Parent's League of New York, and the Educational Records Bureau.
